![]() My addiction only recently began with the purchase of an even older set of Swift Triton 7x35s I found in a local store for the princely sum of $15. The view out was spectacular, so 3-D, that I didn't hesitate. ![]() Heretofore, a dinky pair of Pentax roofs in 10x25 were my only reference point, save for the one UNFORGETTABLE time I gazed through a pair of Swarorski 10x50s at the rifle range, and **** near dropped them! My knees literally went weak. Those 10x25 Pentax roofs were so awful, I couldn't spot. 54 caliber muzzle loader slugs out to 100yds. And I remember how I yearned for a set of 6x30 bins for still hunting the dense woods for whitetails and squirrels. This was before the Internet and the auction sites that have such reasonable bargains these days. I've acquired three (3) Tritons, a Rainier 10x50, and a Saratoga 8x40, with only the last two having the desirable attributes mentioned above. ![]() Have begun opening and cleaning some of the Tritons, one a Mark I, and even blackened the prisms on two of them after reading about the process here and on a Birding site. Great fun!!!Ĭan't wait to study the moon this spring through the 8 and 10x bins, after seeing just how awesome it looks through 7x. Will also be saving up for a tripod and Celestron 15x70.
